Harold Washington Library, Winter Garden
The Chicago Public Library Foundation’s Junior Board and their 350 delighted guests inaugurated a unique fundraising event, Night in the Stacks, on Friday, April 4th. Raising more than $110,000 in support of Library programs, the event was a blockbuster success, thanks to enthusiastic sponsors and partners, good friends and supporters of the Chicago Public Library Foundation, and to the incredible efforts of the Junior Board.
Top-level sponsors included BMO Harris Bank, Jewell Events Catering, and the Sidley Austin Foundation. U.S. Equities Realty/Susan & Robert Wislow Charitable Trust, Kehoe Designs, Latham & Watkins, Jones Day and Tribune Media Group/Printers Row Journal also provided generous funding and in-kind support.
Highlighting the evening’s “Night in the Stacks” theme, the Library’s grand Winter Garden was transformed into a modern lounge with sleek leather furniture, bookcases, and multiple bars. Partygoers danced to the rhythms of DJ Konsept, while guest authors, hip librarians, and actors costumed as literary characters circulated through the crowd. Guests took turns posing for photos with literary characters, props from popular books, or giant library cards.
Proceeds from the event support innovative programs and initiatives at the Chicago Public Library. Thanks to everyone who supported or attended the event!
